Kodi tv guide hdhomerun12/27/2023 It gives me Plex Home which means I was able to set up users for everyone in the family. You don't need to pay for it, but I've found it's worth it for me. Two weeks later and they updated the UI and I gave up completely on Kodi. It had a pretty crappy interface on the Rokus, but my wife actually started using it. I did, however, already have Rokus in every room, so I tried Plex again. The only benefit was the centralized service, which to this day I think is something Kodi sorely needs. Now over the years I had tried plex and just gave up on it every time. I had plans on putting small machines in each room to run Kodi like did, but I just never got to it. This meant my collection of movies rarely got watched unless it was by me or they got the disk out. I used to use XBMC/Kodi and no one in the house would use it that much (it was only in the living room at the time). but will get more than what we get now using My setup doesn't use live tv at all, but I will give you my experience with Plex. Right now we dont have HD in bedroom and also the crappy cheap box so it doesnt get all the channels. ok maybe launch plex but then change to a channel. This is all so I can put a Roku streaming stick in our bedroom (non smart tv) and LITTLE TO NO CHANGE for WAF. Next on list is to get the NBC, ABC pictures and also get the rest of the guide to show up nice. I cant figure out how to do some things but will get them Installed Plex / HDHomerun View and HDHomerun View Beta Installed HS3 and Concord plugin but havent moved the box into place I totally rebuilt my HS box (well an identical box I keep as a spare). well now last 2 weeks total renovation on kids bathroom. trying to decide on a floor.īut wife mentioned kids bathroom shower not working right. Well I havent been on here much as I was getting plans to redo my kitchen.Ĭabinets ordered. in addition to stream using the android/apple apps you need to have a subscription BUT if you launch and view through a browser - no subscription is needed. Interesting thing with Plex - while they do have a subscription service you do not have to pay for it. Tonight im going to get a Roku Streaming Stick to plug into my tv upstairs (non smart) and get plex setup so we can have HDTV upstairs vs the crappy lil non HD box connected to a samsung 32" led tv got much to setup but now I have to get my server rebuilt which I have been in process for many months. Windows media player - had to install a codec packĢ different tvs - while the browsing is sloppy and not great it does workĢ Samsung Smart Tv's - same that were used for DLNA HDHomerun View - works with HBO/Showtime/Cinnemax Same today with my MythTV box talking to two HD Homerun boxes and having two cards in it (one satellite and one old ASTC combo tuner).Īctivated and was watching tv in many scenarios!!!! I wouldn't bother doing the same if I included a multiple capture hardware card with 8 CPUs doing the work in a VM. IE: I can run a VM of Zoneminder capturing multiple streams of RTSP stuff from multiple cameras easy enough. Once though you start tapping in to hardware video compression, encryption (DRM), multiple streaming it gets a bit more difficult.Įasier to just push the easy button: purchase Amazon Prime and a Fire TV stick and be done with it. Recording inhibit tagging has already been added to the broadcast OTA stuff whether private or public.Ī VM running an OS works fine. OTA today is being broadcast free and privately for paying subscribers. While it is nice to have incorporated pieces to a television making it a smart TV most folks will not ever update the their television firmware and the firmware will never be able to keep up with the new technologies of DRM because it is changing very quickly. I have / am having issues whether it is run on Wintel or Linux. Above I mentioned testing the new HDHomerun stuff.
